Comments: OpenHouseNY '07: High Line, U.N, smallpox hospital
I don't see where on the OHNY site they mention access to the actual Renwick Ruin / Smallpox Hospital. RIOC, the State Authority entrusted with the Ruin, would never allow oraginized access to the site as it is not completely stable. The only mention I see on the OHNY site is that The Encampment tent installation will be just South of the Ruin in Southpoint Park.

Hi, as for the smallpox hospital, the press release that went out today says "Southpoint, the abandoned ruins of the Renwick-designed smallpox hospital ..."
I'll give them a call in the morning for clarification. Thanks. -- amy

Amy - I spoke with the folks at the Roosevelt Island operating Corporation, the State Authority that has jurisdiction on RI and over the Smallpox Hospital. They definitively stated there is no access inside the Renwick Ruin. - Eric

Thanks for the tips!
Just to note: I went on the UN tour last year and it was just like any other ordinary UN tour; no special perks.
