This explanation for the accident doesn't really make sense, considering 5th Ave is one way.

Fifth Ave. used to be a two way street. I'm unsure exactly when it changed, but Wikipedia pegs it as sometime in the early 1960s.

Your blog is very informative and interesting and New Yorkers ought to be hanging out here to read up about their city.
I had no idea that Winston Churchill's mother was from Brooklyn!
And ofcourse, I have never read anywhere about his cab accident on 5th Ave.!
