Gertels is not the last Kosher bakery on the LES. Moishe's bakery, on the far east end of Grand Street, also serve kosher baked goods (though I don't know that they bake their own). I bought a truly wonderful egg challah from Moishe's for Rosh Hashanah-one of the best I've had.
