Comments: Behind the curtain at 'Iron Chef' taping: 'It's a sham'
I am a culinary student, and today we had a special guest- chef Walter Royal, who was on Iron Chef in January and battled Iron Chef Cat Cora. He told us that a few months before the taping, the chefs are given 5 potential ingredients, one of which is the secret ingredient. So, they have a few months to prepare ideas for all 5 ingredients. Thats probably why it isnt as nerve racking live as it is to us watching it on TV. A bit of a let down though :(
