'Lysistrata Jones' and 'Relatively Speaking' to close
Two Broadway shows this week have posted closing notices: The musical “Lysistrata Jones” will end Jan. 8, and the set of one-act comedies, “Relatively Speaking” will wrap up Jan. 29.
“Lysistrata Jones,” Douglas Carter Beane’s musical adaptation of the Aristophanes’ comedy “Lysistrata,” had an open-ended run. Critics gave it a median C+ grade following its Dec. 14 opening night, according to StageGrade.
It plays the Walter Kerr Theatre at 219 W. 48th St. Tickets are priced $25 to $130 with premium seats $147 to $199. Student rush tickets are $25.
“Relatively Speaking,” which also had an open-ended run, consists of three one-act comedies written separately by Ethan Coen, Elaine May and Woody Allen. Julie Kavner, Steve Guttenberg, Mark Linn-Baker and Marlo Thomas star. Following its Oct. 20 opening night, critics gave it a median grade of C, according to StageGrade’s calculations.
The website now states: “Must close Jan. 29.”
“Relatively Speaking” plays the Brooks Atkinson Theatre at 256 W. 47th St. Tickets are priced from $67 to $127.
