Musical 'Once' to transfer to Broadway in February
The new love-story musical “Once” will transfer to Broadway’s Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre starting Feb. 28 with opening night set for March 18, producers announced Tuesday.
The show is currently playing Off-Broadway’s New York Theatre Workshop through Jan. 15. Last night’s opening night performance garnered stellar reviews from the critics, earning an A- average grade, according to StageGrade’s calculations.
The musical is based on the 2007 film of the same name starring Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová. The cast of the stage version of “Once” features Steve Kazee as Guy and Cristin Milioti as Girl.
The description of the show according to producers: “On the streets of Dublin, an Irish musician (Guy) and a Czech immigrant (Girl) are drawn together by their shared love of music. Over the course of one fateful week, an unexpected friendship and collaboration quickly evolves into a powerful but complicated love story. …”
Broadway tickets, which went on sale this morning, range from $59.50 to $131.50. premium seats range from $176.50 to $226.50.
