10 Commandments, Dead Sea Scrolls in Times Square
The Ten Commandments will remain on display through Jan. 2 with extended holiday hours at Times Square Discovery Center as part of the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibition.
The fragile Ten Commandments Scroll, part of the Dead Sea Scrolls, was discovered in 1952 in Cave 4 near Khirbet, Qumran. The scrolls, believed to date from 250 BC to 68 AD, comprise the oldest written version of the Hebrew Bible.
“Dead Sea Scrolls: Life and Faith in Biblical Times” featuring 20 Dead Sea Scrolls and more than 500 Biblical-era items, will remain on display until April 15.
This week, the exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. through Friday and then 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. On New Years Day, the exhibition will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Tickets to the exhibition are $27 for adults, $22.50 for seniors and $19.50 for children 4 to 12 years old. The other exhibition at the venue, “CSI: The Experience,” requires a separate ticket.
Discovery Times Square is located at 226 W. 44th St.
