Upcoming fireworks in NYC for fall/winter 2011

Several upcoming fireworks shows are planned for the waters around New York City through the end of 2011, including a celebration of the Statue of Liberty’s 125th Anniversary on Oct. 28.
The following fireworks schedule has been pieced together from U.S. Coast Guard applications, the City of New York listings and, when available, sponsoring venues (which sometimes decline to name the reason for the fireworks or why they sometimes get canceled.) This list will be updated through the end of 2011.
Upcoming NYC fireworks:
Sept. 27 - East River near River Café and Pier 16
The Coast Guard lists the fireworks for sometime between 9:30 and 10:45 p.m.; the NYC 311 listing states 10 p.m.

Sept. 29 - Fireworks from a barge near Ellis Island
Fireworks are planned for sometime between 8:30 and 9:45 p.m. from a barge near Ellis Island, according to the U.S. Coast Guard application; another Coast Guard bulletin states a 12-minute fireworks display is scheduled at 9 or 9:15 p.m.

Oct. 2 - South Street Seaport at Pier 16
A permit has been requested for a 20-minte fireworks show sometime between 6:45 and 8:10 p.m. Update: A spokesman for the Deepavali Festival told NewYorkology that fireworks should start about 7:15 p.m. and go for 22 to 24 minutes.

Update: Oct. 6 - 7:30 p.m. fireworks south of Ellis Island
Sponsor: National Parks Conservation Association for its biannual gala and in honor of the 125th anniversary of the State of Liberty
Canceled: Oct. 6 - Pier 54 on the Hudson River
Sometime between 9 and 9:30 p.m.; another Coast Guard bulletin describes the event as a 30 minute fireworks display scheduled at 9:30 p.m.

Update on Oct. 6: The latest public Coast Guard filing lists this event as a request not yet permitted. The Hudson River Park Trust said no event is schedule for Pier 54 tonight.
Update: Oct. 8 - Near Liberty Island
Sometime between 9 and 10:10 p.m.; Downtown Alliance says 9:30 p.m.

Oct. 28 - Upper New York Bay
15-minute fireworks between 8 and 9:15 p.m. start at 7:45 p.m. at the Statue of Liberty

Update: Nov. 4 - Central Park - Cherry Hill
10 p.m. Sometime between 7 and 8 p.m.
Sponsor: New York Roadrunners (ING NYC Marathon)
Update as of Nov. 4: The city’s fireworks schedule at 311 has been updated to almost coincide with the Marathon Race Week Schedule, which lists 7:30 p.m. fireworks
Update: Nov 11 - near Liberty Island
A permit has been requested for a 12- to 15- minute show sometime between 10:25 p.m. and 11:40 p.m.

Fireworks between 9:15 and 9:30 p.m.
