Beyonce added to GMA free summer concerts lineup
Beyonce, Mary J. Blige and Jennifer Hudson are among the acts that will play the “Good Morning America” Summer Concert Series at Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield, the morning show announced Wednesday.
The kickoff event, Lady Gaga’s free May 27 concert, will be the only one that will require tickets.
All other events are free and open to the public and take place Fridays from 7 to 9 a.m. Organizers have asked audience members to use the 72nd Street entrance on Fifth Avenue at 6 a.m., when the park opens to the public.
GMA announced the acts that will perform this summer, with a few additions to come, but failed to mention the dates.
The GMA summer lineup for 2011 as announced thus far: Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Hudson, Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert, Selena Gomez, Nicki Minaj, Taio Cruz, Florence and the Machine, The Goo Goo Dolls, The GO-GO’s, Debbie Gibson, Tiffany and all Top 11 “American Idol” contestants.
Last week, the “Today” show announced its full free summer concert lineup, which includes Rihanna, Journey, Cee Lo Green, Lenny Kravitz and Enrique Iglesias.

The Summerstage/Rumsey Field website provides more details about the timing of the shows: “Live broadcast performances for the morning news show, Good Morning American. Entry to the venue at 6:00 a.m., sound check by artist at 7:00 a.m., performance begins between 8:30 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. Live broadcast over at 9:00 a.m., performances over by 9:10 a.m.”
The Lady Gaga tickets are sold out. The “free” tickets came with a $3 Ticketmaster fee.
