Transit Museum tours: Old City Hall to Coney Island Yard
The popular New York Transit Museum tours have already started selling out for the fall season, but some openings remain, including for NYC’s oldest, and now normally off-limits, subway station under City Hall.
Most tours are $25 for adults and $15 for children (although different tours have different age requirements.) Membership (starting at $40 per year,) gets you a discount - plus it’s the only way to book the members-only Old City Hall Tour.
Transit tours that still have availability:
The Jewel in the Crown: Old City Hall Station
Sunday, Dec. 12 at noon and 2 p.m.
Subway Nodes and Neighborhoods; Three Case Studies
Saturday, Oct. 23 at 10 a.m.
Coney Island Yard
Tuesday, Nov. 2 at 6 p.m.
Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m.
MTA Arts for Transit: New Projects on the Brighton Line
Sunday, Nov. 21 at 11 a.m.
Click through to the Transit Museum website for full details of each tour and other programs.
The Transit Museum is again taking part in Open House New York by opening an old power station for free tours. However, reservations are required and they maxed out fast. More than 500 people called to request spots but only 50 slots were available, according to a museum official.
Update as of Nov. 10: Old City Hall tours are still available. Call (718) 694-1867 to book.
