Shakespeare in the Park begins, online ticketing returns
Shakespeare in the Park begins tonight in Central Park with a staging of “The Winter’s Tale,” which will play in repertory with “The Merchant of Venice” through August 1.
This summer’s offerings have drawn Al Pacino, (who appears in the Daniel Sullivan-directed “Merchant”) and Law & Order’s Jesse L. Martin (who appears in both productions.)
This will be the third year of the “virtual line” , which allows anyone to join a free day-of-show lottery for a pair of confirmed tickets. Registration for the virtual line is also free.
Free Shakespeare in the Park tickets may also be picked up from 1 p.m. at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park (where there is usually a long line.)
Tickets will also be given out at other locations in all five boroughs on 10 days.
See the schedule of performances for the summer. All shows start at 8 p.m.
