Free French musicals to screen in city parks in June, July
Free French films will screen on Fridays in New York City parks again this summer starting tonight in Central Park with “The Young Girls of Rochefort.”
The “Films on the Green” series is sponsored by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation.
All the screenings are free and will start at sunset, with the parks opening for seating at 8:15 p.m.
The 2010 Films on the Green schedule:
June 11 - Central Park/Cedar Hill (79th St & 5th Ave)
“The Young Girls of Rochefort”
June 18 - Washington Square Park
“8 Women”
June 25 - Washington Square Park
“Same Old Songs”
July 2 - Tompkins Square Park
“A Woman is a Woman”
July 9 - Tompkins Square Park
“Love Songs”
July 16 - Central Park/Cedar Hill
“Tosca: the Movie”
In addition there will be a Thursday screening June 8 for families at Brooklyn’s East River State Park . The animated movie “Azur and Asmar” will be preceded by French-language activities and music for kids.
