Time to close 'Superior Donuts' on Broadway: Jan. 3
“Superior Donuts,” which racked up very good reviews when it opened in October, will end its Broadway run Jan. 3.
The new Tracy Letts comedy — his follow-up to Pulitzer-winning “August: Osage County” — stars Michael McKean and Jon Michael Hill as Chicago donut shop workers wrestling with the American Dream.
“Superior Donuts” plays the Music Box Theatre, 239 W. 45th St., map. Regular tickets are priced from $76.50 to $116.50. Premium seats are $151.50 to $251.50.
The closing notice means “Superior Donuts” will join a number of other productions closing up shop right after the holidays. David Mamet’s “Oleanna”, with Bill Pullman and Julia Stiles, will close Jan. 3; the musical ““Shrek” will close Jan. 3; the holiday-themed “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas” will close Jan. 3; and the comedy “39 Steps” will close Jan. 10.
