Biryani Cart, Rickshaw Dumpling among Vendy finalists
The Biryani Cart, King of Falafel, Rickshaw Dumpling, Jamaican Dutchy and Country Boys/Martinez Taco Truck are the nominees for the 2009 title of the city’s best street food, known as the Vendy Awards.
The awards, which started in 2005, are run as a fundraiser for the Street Vendor Project, a membership-based non-profit organization that stands up for vendors’ rights.

Red Hook Ball Fields (Clinton and Bay streets, map) weekends 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Brooklyn Flea (Lafayette and Vanderbilt streets, map,) Saturdays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Vendy Awards will be handed out September 26 at the Queens Museum of Art, outdoors near the Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Advance tickets for the awards ceremony — food included — are $80 for adults or $40 for children.
