NYC beach towels: DKNY skyline to Weegee's Coney

dknybeachtowelyellow.jpgThe weather gurus are forecasting the hottest heat of the summer for today, so it seemed high time to roll out a few NYC-themed beach towel offerings.

Though given the erratic forecast, you may want to keep the umbrella list stashed nearby.

The iconic DKNY mural at Houston in Broadway has been painted over by Hollister, but the scene is sort of preserved in a DKNY-branded beach towel on offer through Bed, Bath & Beyond.

The 40-by-70 inch City Skyline beach towel sells for $12.99.

The New York Transit Museum shop has a few beach towel offerings include a vintage subway advertisement.

The Reach the Beach towel measures 59-by-35 inches and is priced at $36.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the International Center of Photography has sold out of its bikini-clad Bettie Page model.

The New York Times offers a green-grass counterpoint to the Weegee theme. The NYT towel — which comes with a free cookbook — features an aerial view of sun worshippers in Bryant Park, taken by Times photographer Vincent Laforet. The 34-by-64 inch towel sells for $34.95.

A couple of city museums are stocking the artist-designed towels sponsored by Target for the Art Production Fund. The Artist Towel Series 2009 — features towels by Ed Ruscha, Raymond Pettibon, and Karen Kilimnik is available through the New Museum for $95 each.

A few of the 2008 editions — by Jeff Koons and Julian Schnabel — are still available at the Whitney’s shop for $50.

highlinetowel.jpgDevotees of the new High Line Park may want to flash street cred on the sands by rolling out a Diane von Furstenberg towel. A percentage of the percentage of the proceeds from the $75 towel goes to Friends of the High Line conservancy.

Here are a few other beach towels of note:

Juicy NYC Sugar Factory 20th Century Sweetheart
Dylan’s Candy Bar
Mets
Yankees
Knicks
