Michael Jackson party rain-or-shine in Prospect Park

mj51.jpgThe Spike Lee-sponsored Michael Jackson 51st Birthday Celebration will go on rain-or-shine in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park this Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

The public will be allowed to enter the park’s Nethermead area starting at 10 a.m., ahead of the afternoon of videos and music from DJ Spinna.

Expectations of massive crowds forced the event to relocate from its original location, Ft. Greene Park. However, the move has “inadvertently kicked independent theatre quite literally right off the stage,” according to Rebellious Subjects Theatre, which had a Shakespeare permit for Nethermead on Saturday. But they’ve rebounded and rescheduled, with a free Henry Marathon Day set for Sunday.

They’ll stage both “Henry IV” at 12:30 p.m. and “Henry V” at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday (with a dinner break scheduled at 3 p.m.
