NYC average hotel room falls to $198; deals from $79

The average daily rate for a hotel room in New York City fell yet again, to $198.37, for the last full week of June, according to Smith Travel Research.
Many of the hotel deals currently on offer will remain low right up until the first week of September. Here’s a sample of what’s out there now:
The new website GetaRoom.com (created by founders of Hotels.com,) offers several NYC properties, including (rates for this Saturday night):

Hotel Pennsylvania from $122
Skyline Hotel from $134
Holiday Inn Midtown on 57th Street from $142
Dylan Hotel from $160
Hilton New York from $169
Millennium UN Plaza Hotel from $183

Today’s Tablet Hotel e-newsletter touts last-minute deals at the Mansfield Hotel from $179 and $236 for the Hotel on Rivington.
The Millenium Hilton on Church Street offers a few package deals under $200 per night, including the Discover Downtown deal for $184 and the MoMA VIP package for $189 which includes two tickets to the Museum of Modern Art.
The Ravel Hotel, (pictured) which features a rooftop lounge adjacent to the Queensborough Bridge, offers rooms from $153.
Many hotels are offering a third-night-free deal through Sept. 7.
Above the must-see High Line, rooms at The Standard start at $195.
A few blocks to the south, The Jane is still offering rooms for $79 mid-week, though the rate rises to $89 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Starting Sept. 7, rates will go up to $99 per night.
The Pod Hotel’s summer special starts at $129.
Near Times Square, the Portland Square Hotel has a “hot summer rates” deal with rooms from $109.
Across the East River, the Verve Hotel in Long Island City offers rooms from $109.
And Ace Hotel bunks are available from $149.
If you book by July 31 (for stays through Sept. 7,) Gild Hall will give you two nights for $399, including a $100 credit on food and drinks at The Libertine.
