New murals on Houston Street: the good, and bad/ugly

First, the good news.

There’s a new mural going up at the corner of Houston and Bowery today.

Paolo Mastrangelo and ANIMAL id it as the work of Os GĂȘmeos.

Although people were sad to see the prior mural disappear, it was a re-creation of a Keith Haring that had been in that same location for a few month in 1982, according to Deitch Projects.

Another iconic mural also recently disappeared. After nearly two decades, the DKNY mural at Broadway and Houston has been replaced with this:
