Macy's 4th of July Hudson River fireworks pictures
Independence Day fireworks made a grand return to the Hudson River on Saturday Night as Macy’s moved its big annual show to the west of Manhattan to help celebrate the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s first voyage on the waterway.
The 33rd Annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks featured 40,000 shells fired from six barges in the Hudson, offering an awesome panorama that was sometimes high enough that even Brooklyn wasn’t entirely snubbed by the move.
The official program was held on the deck of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, with a live performance by the New York Pops, as well as appearances by Rob Thomas, Jewel and cast from Broadway’s “West Side Story.”
At a reception below deck before the fireworks, Renée Jones-Bos, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United States, spoke of Netherlands historic bond to New York, as well as the additional NY400 events.
