highbridge.up.jpg

The landmarked Highbridge Water Tower will open its doors Sunday afternoon, allowing the public a free chance to climb the stairs for the view from Washington Heights.

The tower was built in 1872 as part of the Croton Aqueduct system. It’s now maintained by the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation. It will be open Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

One day earlier, the Parks Department will open the Little Red Lighthouse for free tours from 1 to 4 p.m.
