NYC Opera to stage three free waterfront concerts
The New York City Opera said Tuesday it will stage three free concerts downtown along the waterfront this month as part of the River To River Festival.
The free opera runs three consecutive nights starting June 25 with “The Magic Flute” then “La Navarraise” the following night at the World Financial Center Winter Garden, followed by Opera on the Pier, a concert of arias and ensembles, at The South Street Seaport’s Pier 17. All performances begin at 7 p.m.
Earlier, the Met Opera announced it will stage free concerts in all five boroughs starting July 13.

June 25
“The Magic Flute” at Rockefeller Park
One-hour version of the Mozart classic sung in English and featuring New York City Opera soloists and orchestra, including Brian Anderson as Tamino, Lielle Berman as Pamina, Michael Zegarski as Papageno, Sharla Nafziger as Papagena, Amy Shoremount-Obra as Queen of the Night, Jeffrey Halili as Monastatos, Eric Jordan as Sarastro, Melissa Fogarty as First Lady, Emily Langford Johnson as Second Lady and Krysty Swann as Third Lady. The Magic Flute will be conducted by Jayce Ogren.
June 26
“La Navarraise” at the World Financial Center’s Winter Garden
A rarely performed Massenet opera is a love story that unfolds against the backdrop of civil war in Spain. The cast includes Eric Jordan as Garrido, Theodora Hanslowe as Anita, Andrew Drost as Ramon, Raúl Melo as Araquil, Brian Kontes as Remigio, Jeffrey Tucker as Bustamente. The concert will also feature tenor Brian Anderson and baritone Michael Zegarksi. “La Navarraise” will be conducted by Steven Osgood.

Opera on the Pier at the South Street Seaport
Opera on the Pier will be conducted by Steven Mosteller, with soprano Lielle Berman, mezzo-soprano Krysty Swann, tenors Andrew Drost and Raúl Melo, baritone Marco Nisticó, and bass Eric Jordan. The program:
