'God of Carnage' extends, but after a summer vacay

godofcanagelogo.jpgGod of Carnage” will take a summer vacation and return to Broadway in September with all four of its Tony-nominated cast members — James Gandolfini, Marcia Gay Harden, Hope Davis and Jeff Daniels — the New York Times reports.

The current run of the comedy will end July 26. The break will allow cast members to fulfill prior commitments and return to the stage for performances from Sept. 8 through Nov. 15. The show could go on after that, but likely with a new cast, Daniels told the Times.

“God of Carnage” got very good reviews when it opened on Broadway in March. It’s up for six Tony Awards on Sunday, including best play.

Written by Yasmina Reza, the action unfolds as two married couples share cocktails while discussing a playground fight between their boys.

Tickets for the extension will go on sale June 3 at noon.

“God of Carnage” plays the Bernard Jacobs Theater, at 242 W. 45th St., map. Regular tickets are priced from $66.50 to $116.50. (Though that top price rises to $121.50 as of Sept. 12.) Premium seats are sold from $176.50 to $251.50. If a performance is sold out, standing-room tickets will go on sale for $26.50.
