$10 tickets to 'Bye Bye Birdie' preview on Broadway
When the revival of “Bye Bye Birdie” begins performances September 10 in Broadway’s newest theater, every seat in the house will be priced at $10.
After that, kiss the one-night deal goodbye as regular tickets will range from $86.50 to $136.50.
The Roundabout Theatre Company production will star John Stamos as Albert Peterson; Gina Gershon as Rose Alvarez; Bill Irwin as Mr. Harry MacAfee; Jayne Houdyshell as Mrs. Mae Peterson; Dee Hoty as Mrs. MacAfee; and Nolan Gerard Funk as the hip-shaking Conrad Birdie.
The $10 tickets will go on sale Aug. 10 at noon at the Henry Miller’s Theatre box office, at 124 W. 43rd St., map. The $10 tickets are limited to two per person.
The new theater, which retains the facade of the old building, is located in the new Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park. BofA is actually the corporate sponsor making those $10 tickets possible.
Winner of best musical in the 1961 Tony Awards, “Bye Bye Birdie” includes the songs “A Lot of Livin’ To Do,” “Put on A Happy Face,” “Kids,” “Spanish Rose,” and “The Telephone Hour.”
Robert Longbottom will direct and choreograph; the book is by Michael Stewart; music is by Charles Strouse; and lyrics are by Lee Adams. Opening night is scheduled for October 15.
