Neil Patrick Harris to host Tonys; Cumming eyes Spidey

tonylogo09.jpgWhile Neil Patrick Harris has been confirmed as the host for this year’s Tony Awards, the more interesting Broadway news this week is that Alan Cumming is in negotiations to play the Green Goblin in “Spider-Man: Turn Out the Dark,” according to the Post.

Director Julie Taymor’s big-budget production already features a score by Bono and The Edge of U2. Previews begin January 16. Tickets will go on sale in June.

As for the Tony Awards, Harris will emcee the June 7 event honoring Broadway’s best at the Radio City Music Hall. Harris — of TV’s “How I Met Your Mother” and “Doogie Howser, M.D.” — has appeared on Broadway in “Assassins,” “Cabaret” and “Proof.”

Tickets to the Tonys are priced at $204.50 and $404.50.
