Celebrate Brooklyn free events start with David Byrne

celebratebrooklyn.jpgDavid Byrne this year will lead off the summertime free events at Celebrate Brooklyn, which also includes a roster of Big Daddy Kane, Femi Kuti, Robert Cray and a They Might Be Giants concert for kids.

Most of the season’s offerings are free, with a suggested $3 donation. The benefit shows — TV on the Radio, Animal Collective, MGMT, Bonnie Raitt and Jackson Browne — are the ones that require tickets.

The season runs from June 8 until August 15. All shows are at the Prospect Park Bandshell.
