Bryant Park free movie Monday nights start June 15
Free on Mondays this summer?
The 2009 HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival will begin June 15 with a screening of “The Sting,” and run most Mondays through August 17, inviting anyone and everyone to the lawn for free outdoor movie nights.
The lawn opens at 5 p.m. for people to secure a spot with a blanket (“no plastic tarps please”) and picnicking. The films begin at dusk, usually sometime between 8 and 9 p.m. If it’s raining, no show.
Earlier, the schedule was announced for the free Thursday night movie series in Brooklyn Bridge Park, called Movies with a View. The Celebrate Brooklyn summer festival in Prospect also includes a few free movie nights.
The Bryant Park summer movie schedule:
June 15 - The Sting
June 22 - Breaking Away
June 29 - Gold Diggers of 1933
July 6 - Dog Day Afternoon
July 13 - How Green Was My Valley
July 20 - Harold and Maude
July 27 - The Defiant Ones
August 3 Kramer vs. Kramer
August 10 - The Magnificent Seven
August 17 - Close Encounters of the Third Kind
The free screenings are presented by Time Warner Cable.
