Met Opera to stage free concerts in all five boroughs
The Metropolitan Opera announced this week it will return to all five boroughs this year for its free Summer Recital Series including Manhattan’s East River Park, Tappan Park on Staten Island, and Coffey Park next to the projects in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
In 2008, the Met Opera scrapped the multi-borough plan and instead staged one big concert in Prospect Park, Brooklyn.
All of the Summer Recital Series performances are free. No tickets are required, except for the July 13 concert as part of Central Park SummerStage. Instructions will be available June 1 for snagging the free Central Park opera tickets.
