Food Network chops and crushes plans for public tours

Sorry foodies, the kitchen is closed.

foodnetworkredlogo.jpgThe Food Network — home to shows such as Iron Chef America, Throwndown with Bobby Flay and all-things Rachel Ray — in December and January offered public tours of its Chelsea studios as a test to see if the tours could become permanent.

The answer, contained in an e-mail sent out today by the network: no.

Thank you for your interest & support of the Food Network Studio tour pilot program. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer paid public tours in the future. Although we received very positive feedback from tour attendees, our studios are working studios and ongoing tours would interfere with our ability to deliver top-notch programming to our viewers. Please check FoodNetwork.com for updates about tapings and events such as the Food Network NYC Wine & Food Festival. And, if you’re on Facebook, join our fan club—you’ll get the latest updates on network happenings!
