US Helicopter resumes airport service from Wall St.
After a nearly five-month suspension, US Helicopter on Friday resumed airport shuttle flights from the Wall Street heliport, the company said.
As of November 1, the publicly traded US Helicopter was unable to use the Downtown Heliport, and instead diverted all its passengers to the East 34th Street heliport.
The initial ban kicked in when a new management company took over the Downtown Heliport and did not get automatic approval of the old security plan that allowed direct transfers to airports. Once that was approved, the new management company, FirstFlight, Inc., and US Helicopter had not yet come to an agreement on use of the Downtown Heliport.
On Friday, US Helicopter announced its Wall Street return in an e-mail to passengers:Today, Friday, March 27, 2009 US Helicopter has relaunched service to the Downtown Manhattan heliport - Wall Street area.
Service from East 34 Street Heliport continues unchanged
US Helicopter will operate scheduled service starting at 07:15 am through 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday. As previously provided this service will connect passengers to both J.F.Kennedy Internatioinal Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport.
