Macy's Thanksgiving Parade may skip Times Square

The annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade may skip Times Square and instead use Sixth Avenue, Crain’s business newspaper is reporting.
The idea’s on the table in part because Mayor Michael Bloomberg hopes to turn much of Times Square into a pedestrian plaza as soon as May, the paper reports.
The parade diversion plan was discussed at the Mayor’s Midtown Citizen’s Committee on Wednesday and is being criticized by local businesses, including hotels with parade views.
