Big-name NYC hotels on sale under $150 per night
More bad news for the hotels (and the people building more) translates into continued great deals for people visiting New York City this winter.
The New York hotel market reported the largest average-daily-rate declines in the United States for the month of January — a drop of 13.1 percent to $199.05 — compared with the January 2008, according to Smith Travel Research. Revenue per available room fell 27.1 percent to $118.44 for the same period.
NYC & Co., the city’s official tourism bureau, has three hotel specials on offer.
The Style & Scene program, which runs from today through Monday, gets you a hotel plus free admission to the Armory Show, a Bloomingdale’s VIP 15-percent all-day savings pass and a free makeup consultation.
The Signature Collection Third Night, which gets you a third night free at luxury hotels including The Carlyle, The Palace and Trump International Hotel & Tower — has been extended through March 31.
NYC Sunday Stays program offers 20- to 30-percent discounts on Sunday nights at hotels such as The Algonquin, Benjamin and the Grand Hyatt.

And yes, Hotels.com is still touting a $15 (unbookable) room in Midtown at a Holiday Inn Express that was flagged to them in mid-February. So much for that booking agent who said “I apologize. I’ll let somebody know as soon as I get off the phone with you.” Maybe he meant the janitor?
