April hotel deals in Manhattan from $99 to $200

New York City hotels remain on sale, not quite as deeply discounted as this winter, but the rates are still much lower than this time a year ago.

In year-over-year measurements for the week ending March 21, New York’s hotel stats were the worst in the country, with a 25.5 percent drop in its average daily rate and a 36.3 percent decline in its revenue per available room to $151.05, according to data released by Smith Travel Research. (Nationally, the average daily rate dropped only 8 percent, to $99.92, while revenue per available room fell 12.3 percent to $58.45.)

Quikbook this morning is kicking off a New York hotel sale, but you must book by Friday at 5 p.m. Among the deals:

Hampton Inn Manhattan - $109
The Hudson - $119
Bedford Hotel - $124
Time - $135
6 Columbus Circle - $139
Hotel Mela - $147
The Carlton - $150
Shelburne Murray Hill - $150
Omni Berkshire Place - $150
City Club Hotel - $172

Manhattan User’s Guide has launched an NYC hotels under $200 map - with a little bit of attitude. MUG focuses on the hotels “that emphasize value in good times and bad” — not the ones that jacked up their rates to the $400 range when the gettin’ was good and are now begging for business.

Speaking of which, the Gramercy Park Hotel is offering 50 percent off every other night through April 30.

If you live in the Tri-State area, the Algonquin will take 20 percent off your room rate and comp you an upgrade.

As planned, The Jane this Friday will raise its rates to $99 per night up from the $75 deal it ran this winter. That $99 rate is available for the next 12 months through the hotel’s booking engine.

Tablet Hotels’ deals for this Saturday include:

Dream - $150
Gild Hall - $159
Mansfield Hotel - $179
Cooper Square - $195

A number of the new hotels are offering rates below $200, including the Gem Hotel Chelsea where rooms are priced from $169 for this weekend.

The New York Times checked into The Standard and declared its $195 soft-opening special “is hard to beat.”

The Ace Hotel, which has repeatedly delayed its debut, is looking less budget all the time. Currently the earliest and cheapest room you can book is April 16 for $209.
