Off-Broadway on sale: half-price, $20 and even $10 tix
Well, at least the recession is delivering some bargains.
Off-Broadway’s “Sleepwalk With Me,” “Forbidden Broadway,” “Stomp,” “The Marvelous Wonderettes,” “The Cripple of Inishmann,” “The Fantasticks,” “Altar Boyz,” “Fuerza Bruta” and “Naked Boys Singing!” are among the comedies and musicals currently on sale.
There are 26 shows are selling $20 tickets through this Sunday for the 20at20 discount program. The catch is that the $20 tickets go on sale starting 20 minutes for curtain if the show’s not already sold out.
One week after that offer ends, more than 30 Off-Broadway productions will start offering two-for-one tickets through the On The House promotion announced today by NYC & Co., the city’s official tourism board.
The two-for-one-deal — good from February 15 through March 1 — works for shows including “Uncle Vanya,” “Ruined,” “Third Story” “Becky Shaw,” “Enter Laughing,” “Blue Man Group,” “Altar Boyz,” “Forbidden Broadway,” “Gazillion Bubble Show,” and “Shipwrecked.”
Even Broadway’s on sale, as Variety reports that the upcoming transfer of “Rock of Ages” will offer a block of prime tickets to preview for $49.50, with seats elsewhere in the theater for as little as $26.50. The musical has also hastened its start-of-preview date to March 17, Playbill reported today.
Elsewhere, the What’s Good/What Blows in New York Theatre blog has word of a limited offering of $10 tickets at Atlantic Theater’s production of Martin McDonagh’s “The Cripple of Inishmaan.” The comedy has just been extended through March 15.
