The Mets have just opened the online registration period for the Opening Day ticket lottery that will decide who gets a chance to purchase tickets for the April 13 match-up against San Diego in Citi Field.

citifieldtickets.jpgYou can register for free until February 24 at midnight.

The randomly selected winners will be notified via e-mail that they have the option to buy as many as four tickets for the first official home game of the regular season.

Currently the only other way you can be guaranteed of getting an Opening Day ticket is through the purchase of a season ticket package, which range from $1,550 to $18,325 per seat.

Before opening day, the Mets will break in Citi Field on April 3 and 4 with a pair of exhibition games against the Red Sox. Single-game tickets for those first games will “go on sale in the weeks ahead,” according to the Mets’ website. Single-game tickets for the remainder of the regular season have not yet gone on sale either.

Single game Yankee tickets have yet to go on sale.
