Big changes at Rainbow Room, Tavern on Green, Tropic
As of August 1, the Cipriani family will sever its ties with the struggling Rainbow Room, the Post reports, citing court papers.
The Tavern on the Green is officially in search of someone to renovate and run the famed restaurant in Central Park. The NYC Parks Department of Parks & Recreation released its Request for Proposals on Monday.
Apparently the Hawaiian Tropic Zone webcams will be dark for awhile. The Hooters-style Times Square restaurant and bar will “close its doors Saturday for a lengthy renovation,” the Daily News confirms.
Update: A PR rep for Hawaiian Tropic e-mailed with details of the renovation, which will start February 8. “It will consolidate the 200-seat restaurant on the second floor of the property, making up to 3,100 square feet of street level space available for a new retail tenant,” according to the statement. Reopening is set for May 1.
