Vintage travel poster exhibition starts Saturday

swannsolcrownposter.jpg

airindiaparade.jpgStarting Saturday, a collection of vintage posters will go on display at Swann Auction Galleries, including a number of New York scenes that summon a more refined time of travel.

The online catalogue offers a glimpse of what will be on the Swann walls ahead of the February 5 auction. This Saturday at 3 p.m., there’s also a free walk through the exhibition with Swann’s poster specialist.

The NY-themed items include:

International Silk Show at Grand Central Palace
New York World’s Fair 1939
World’s Fair/New York 1940

Actually, the posters aren’t all about travel, nor all about New York:

NO! NO! NO! NOSTRIP

Swann is located upstairs at 104 East 25th St., map.
