Holiday Inn opens with $119 rooms, other hotels delay
Holiday Inn Long Island City, which it calls the “Manhattan View,” has opened its doors with rates from $119.
The 17-floor hotel, located at 39-05 29th Street in Queens, map, has 136 guest rooms with free wi-fi, and will eventually get an indoor pool.
The hotel’s website previously touted an opening of March 5, 2009.
And while its opening date moved forward, a few dates have been pushed back on the scheduled new hotels for New York in 2009 list.
The Smyth Tribeca, where the opening date has recently moved from January 6 to the 12th, to the 16th, is now set for January 19, a call to the hotel’s front desk revealed. However, the hotel website now carries the less fussy: “Opening January 2009.”
The debut of the renovation of the former Lambs Club into The Chatwal hotel has been pushed into April, according to the website for the Leading Hotels of the World , which previously touted a February 1 opening.
The Ace Hotel is still on track for its March 1 opening, and as Hotel Chatter observes, rooms will now start at $99 a night for a bunk, “cheap full” or “cheap queen.”
The website for the Vu Hotel, which earlier was taking reservations starting March 16, has moved that date out to June 1, with rooms from $299.
The Trump Soho, which is still on track for a “Spring 2009” opening recently won a court case that allowed it to keep its building permit despite neighborhood opposition, according to the New York Times.
Significant details about the 253-room Andaz Wall Street can be found in the Hotels magazine, which pegs the opening at mid year.
The 144-room Andaz Fifth Avenue, on schedule to open late 2009, will place its main dining room at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street, according to a company press release.
