$25 orchestra tickets for MetOpera and NYC Ballet
This week’s worth of $25 orchestra-level seats are now up for grabs at the New York City Ballet and the Metropolitan Opera.
Both promise either prime orchestra or grand tier seats for that reduced price, but the race for tickets is slightly different.
Every Monday at 10 a.m., the New York City Ballet box office starts selling 50 tickets to each show scheduled for the week for only $25. It’s first-come, first serve, and they’re sold only at the box office or over the phone.
The Met Opera, on the other hand, offers a changing number of tickets to select shows on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. to get those, you must register online between 10 a.m. and noon on Monday, for a drawing that will determine who gets a chance to buy those tickets. The winners must purchase by 5 p.m., or the wait-list gets a shot at the leftovers until Thursday at 5 p.m.
This week’s $25 Met Opera offerings:
Friday, January 30 at 8 p.m. - “Eugene Onegin”
Saturday, January 31 at 8 p.m. - “Orfeo ed Euridice”
This week’s New York City Ballet offerings:
Tuesday, January 27 - “Founding Choreographers I”
Wednesday, January 28 - “Four Voices”
Thursday, January 29 - “Founding Choreographers I”
Friday, January 30 - “Early Music Masters”
Saturday, January 31, matinee - “New Combinations: A Tribute to Nureyev”

Also worth noting, today’s the kickoff of the 20at20 two-week promotion that lets you buy Off-Broadway theater tickets for $20. And although it’s a Monday, tonight’s offerings include “The Marvelous Wonderettes,” “Forbidden Broadway” and “Alter Boyz.”
