Broadway upcoming: Guys & Dolls, Slava's Snowshow
“Guys & Dolls” and “Slava’s Snowshow” are the most recent confirmations for Broadway’s current season.
Oliver Platt will star as Nathan Detroit in “Guys and Dolls,” with other casting in the works, producers said. The new production of the 1950s musical will draw from he team that fueled “Jersey Boys;” Des McAnuff will direct with choreography work by Sergio Trujillo.
“Guys and Dolls” will begin previews February 3 at the Nederlander Theatre with opening night set for March 1.
“Slava’s Snowshow” will begin previews at the Helen Hayes Theatre on December 2, with opening night set for December 7. It will play only through January 4.
Tickets, which are now on sale are priced at $79.50 during previews; $111.50 from December 7 through December 21; and $129.50 from December 23 through January 4.
Russian clown Slava Polunin is joined onstage in the family-friedly show by nine other cast members in a clown-version of a Cirque du Soleil show. It played Off-Broadway’s Union Square Theatre from September 2004 through January 2007.
Other holiday-only shows include “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas” on Broadway, Cirque du Soleil’s Wintuk,” at Madison Square Garden, the 2008 Radio City Christmas Spectacular and “George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker” at the New York City Ballet, but no plans have been announced for “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”
