Real World Red Hook: mysterious helicopter edition

blackheli.jpg

As the “Real World Brooklyn” sightings continue across at least two boroughs, their Red Hook crash pad got a mysterious buzzing from a black helicopter this afternoon. It circled low several times, coming in so close to the Pier 41 warehouse it looked like it was trying to land.

The area gets a lot of sightseeing helicopters, especially when the QM2 is docked nearby, but this was an entirely different beast. The spot, at the mouth of the Buttermilk Channel, sometimes gets extra attention from the blue and white law enforcement helicopters, and indeed, a London court just convicted three men of plotting to blow up planes, including at least one from Heathrow to New York.

And although the helicopter’s antics today drew a small crowd in the waterfront park, the door to the Real World home remained closed.
