“Richard Serra: Thinking On Your Feet” begins screening at Film Forum
Free screening of the movie “Hairspray,” and fireworks at the Long Meadow in Prospect Park at 8 p.m.
Free screening of “Duck Season” at Socrates Sculpture Park with music from Bachelor Sound Machín from 7 p.m.
Free screening of “The French Connection” at Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield for Central Park Conservancy Film Festival
Free screening of “All the President’s Men” at Summer on the Hudson: Movies Under the Stars
Cabaret-style showing of “Sir! No Sir!” at the New York Society for Ethical Culture at 7 p.m.
Free performance of “12 Ophelias” at 8 p.m. in the McCarren Park Pool
Mostly Mozart Festival events: Mihaela Ursuleasa with the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra at 8 p.m. and A Little Night Music: Mihaela Uruleasa at 10:30 p.m.
Extra Golden Mahmoud Ahmed and Alemayehu Eshete with The Either/Orchestra Gétatchèw Mèkurya with The Ex play the free Lincoln Center Out of Doors at Damrosch Park Bandshell at 6 p.m.
Everclear, Soul Asylum and Cracker play Webster Hall
Chris Isaak plays the Nokia Theatre Times Square
Acoustic/Electric Blues Night with Chris Smither & Sonny Landreth on the Circle Line 42 concert cruise
Wednesday’s free walking tours include Governors Island, a lunchtime Tour of Conservatory Garden in Central Park and the Municipal Art Society free weekly walking tour of Grand Central Terminal, which starts at the information booth at 12:30 p.m.
Chef tours & Tastes with Chef Alex Guarnaschelli of Butter
Municipal Art Society walking tour: Wall Street Deco, at 6:15 p.m.
Musical Performance: Craig Pomranz: My Heart Don’t Skip a Beat Barnes & Noble Lincoln Triangle at 6 p.m.; and Thomas Stacy: Oboe’D’Amore Concertos at 7:30 p.m.
Samantha Hunt at the Bryant Park Reading Room reading from ” The Invention of Everything Else” at 12:30 p.m.
Tonight’s colors on the Empire State Building North side: Red/White/Red - Hong Kong; West side: Red/Blue/Yellow - Venezuela; South side: Green/Red/Blue - Azerbaijan; East side: Red/Yellow/Black - Belgium
Admission to the Bronx Zoo is by optional “donation” every Wednesday, and admission is free all day at the NY Botanical Garden and Van Cortlandt House Museum. The Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust has free-admission hours from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
Museums open late on Wednesday are the Rubin Museum of Himalayan Art, (to 7 p.m.,) and the Museum of Jewish Heritage, (to 8 p.m.)
