Met Museum says it will start using stricter acquisition rules (Culture Grrl)
Its director, Philippe de Montebello, had been an outspoken advocate of AAMD's previous "10-year rolling rule," which said that museums should be free to acquire objects that had clear and acceptable provenance going back 10 years. Now, in most circumstances, the provenance must date back at least to Nov. 17, 1970, the date of the UNESCO Convention.

The film also cites the city comptroller’s audit of horse carriage licenses, which raised a variety of concerns, including: lax veterinary care, infrequent inspections, not enough water for the horses, risk of overheating on hot asphalt, and the fact they were forced to stand in their own waste because of inadequate drainage.

Hard Rock Cafe to open restaurant at new Yankee Stadium (MLB.com)
Located at the corner of 161st Street and River Avenue, the Hard Rock Cafe will be open year-round, with or without a ticket to a Yankees game. Located near the Great Hall entrance in right field, it will be adjacent to the newly branded NYY Steak, a prime steakhouse that will be operated all year as well.
JetBlue diverts plane over violent smoker (Rocky Mountain News)
The pilot diverted the New York-to-San Francisco JetBlue flight to Denver International Airport on Tuesday. Frightened flight attendants and passengers said that a kicking, cursing woman was endangering everyone aboard, according to an FBI agent's arrest warrant statement.
United's All-Star package goes all-VIP, except for Upper Deck seats (Channel 9)
United is auctioning a package to NYC to see the 2008 All-Star game in Yankee Stadium's final season. The package includes tickets to all the events, hotel accomodations, after party passes and First Class accomodations on United.
