'Bodies' posts refund policy, Chinese prison disclaimer

bodiesinhalf.jpgThe organizers of Bodies, the real cadaver exhibition, has posted the details for its refund policy, which offers full money back to anyone who attended the show since it opened in New York in 2005.

Last week, the show's organizers agreed it could not prove the corpses were not executed Chinese prisoners, as some critics claimed from the start. Now, ticket buyers in New York will see this warning:

Disclaimer: This exhibit displays human remains of Chinese citizens or residents which were originally received by the Chinese Bureau of Police. The Chinese Bureau of Police may receive bodies from Chinese prisons. Premier cannot independently verify that the human remains you are viewing are not those of persons who were incarcerated in Chinese prisons.

-This exhibit displays full body cadavers as well as human body parts, organs, fetuses and embryos that come from cadavers of Chinese citizens or residents. With respect to the human parts, organs, fetuses and embryos you are viewing, Premier relies solely on the representations of its Chinese partners and cannot independently verify that they do not belong to persons executed while incarcerated in Chinese prisons.
Tickets are on sale through December 31 for New York.

The exhibition is concurrently on view at a number of other locations worldwide -- including Atlantic City, Budapest and Honolulu -- but the individual websites for those venues carry no such disclaimer as the New York one.

Here are the details about how to get a refund:

If you would have elected not to attend the Exhibition had you seen these disclosures, and would like your entrance fee to be refunded, please submit a signed statement that includes the following information:

(A) Name and Address;
(B) Proof of having attended the New York Exhibition before May 30th, 2008;
(C) The date before May 30, 2008 on which you attended the New York Exhibition;
(D) A declaration that had you known, read, or understood the above-referenced disclosures, you would not have attended BODIES... The Exhibition, at South Street Seaport.
