Celebrate Brooklyn schedule, now with Bob Dylan

Celebrate Brooklyn's 2008 schedule of (mostly) free concert's at Prospect Park's bandshell kicks off next week with Isaac Hayes -- followed by a summer of performers including Bob Dylan, Beth Orton, Deerhoof, Cold War Kids, the Philip Glass Ensemble, the Mark Morris Dance Group, an African Guitar Festival and a Crooklyn Dodgers Reunion.

This will be Celebrate Brooklyn's 30th year of summer shows.

The three benefit shows are ticketed, and all others are free but there is a $3 suggested donation at the gate.

June 12 - Isaac Hayes
June 14 - Miriam Makeba and Bakithi Kumalo celebrate Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday
June 19 - Medeski Martin & Wood, Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog, Taylor McFerrin & Cell Theory
June 22 - Salif Keita and Haale
June 26 - Carolin Chocolate Drops and the Dixie Hummingbirds
June 27 - Cold War Kids, Elvis Perkins in Dearland and Sam Champion
June 28 - Crooklyn Dodgers Reunion with O.C., Jeru the Damaja, Chubb Rock, EMC featuring Masta Ace, DJ Premier, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, hosted by Buckshot of Black Moon and Special Ed
July 5 - Michael Stuart, William Cepeda's Grupo Essencia, Zemog el Gallo Bueno
July 9 - Feist (tickets are $35)
July 10 - Freddie McGregor and Soul Steps
July 11 - Brazilian Girls, Miranda and Ticlah
July 12 - Beth Orton and Matt Munisteri
July 15 - Spoon (tickets are $32.50)
July 17 - Jerry Douglas and The Holmes Brothers
July 18 - Deerhoof and Metropolis Ensemble: The Rite: Remixed, a re-conceptualization of Stravinsky’s "The Rite of Spring"
July 19 - Karsh Kale performs his new live score to Bruce Lee's "Enter the Dragon" with and Soh Daiko's taiko drumming as the warm up
July 20 - Jewish music label JDub's Golem, Sway Machinery, Michael Showalter, Deleon, Soulico and special guests
July 24 - Brooklyn theater company Brave New World stages Ray Bradbury’s "Farenheit 451"
Juy 25 - Philip Glass Ensemble plays the "Powaqqatsi" score with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, and Marta Topferova
July 26 - Ghostland Observatory, The Jealous Girlfriends and bear Hands
July 31 - Mark Morris Dance Group perform Love Song Waltzes (1982), Love Song Waltzes (1989), and the NY premiere of a new work to Samuel Barber's Excursions for Piano
Aug. 1 - Composer Carl Davis leads 16-piece chamber orchestra The Knights and Christina Courtin playing Charlie Chaplin's "The Rink," "The Immigrant" and "The Adventurer"
Aug. 2 - Father Goose and The Sippy Cups, with classic Keats stories read between sets by Sonia Manzano (Maria from Sesame Street,) Joan Osborne and James McDaniel
Aug. 3 - African Guitar Festival
Aug. 8 - Lila Downs, The Villa, Lobos Brothers, Grupo Norteno
Aug. 9 - Hal Willner's Bill Withers Project with Nona Hendryx, James “Blood� Ulmer, Sandra St. Victor, Glen Hansard of the Frames and more

The Gilberto Gil concert has been moved to the Nokia Theatre Times Square for June 24.
