Celebrate Brooklyn schedule, now with Bob Dylan

celebratebrooklyn.jpgCelebrate Brooklyn's 2008 schedule of (mostly) free concert's at Prospect Park's bandshell kicks off next week with Isaac Hayes -- followed by a summer of performers including Bob Dylan, Beth Orton, Deerhoof, Cold War Kids, the Philip Glass Ensemble, the Mark Morris Dance Group, an African Guitar Festival and a Crooklyn Dodgers Reunion.

This will be Celebrate Brooklyn's 30th year of summer shows.

The three benefit shows are ticketed, and all others are free but there is a $3 suggested donation at the gate.

July 24 - Brooklyn theater company Brave New World stages Ray Bradbury’s "Farenheit 451"
Juy 25 - Philip Glass Ensemble plays the "Powaqqatsi" score with the Brooklyn Youth Chorus, and Marta Topferova
July 26 - Ghostland Observatory, The Jealous Girlfriends and bear Hands
July 31 - Mark Morris Dance Group perform Love Song Waltzes (1982), Love Song Waltzes (1989), and the NY premiere of a new work to Samuel Barber's Excursions for Piano
Aug. 1 - Composer Carl Davis leads 16-piece chamber orchestra The Knights and Christina Courtin playing Charlie Chaplin's "The Rink," "The Immigrant" and "The Adventurer"
Aug. 2 - Father Goose and The Sippy Cups, with classic Keats stories read between sets by Sonia Manzano (Maria from Sesame Street,) Joan Osborne and James McDaniel

The Gilberto Gil concert has been moved to the Nokia Theatre Times Square for June 24.
