Cookies (& milk) report: snickerdoodle and chocolates

Nichelle Stephens, a co-founder of the Cupcakes Take the Cake blog, is the desserts correspondent for NewYorkology. She hits up desserts sweet and savory in all the boroughs. By day, she does bookkeeping.

milk2.jpgLast week, my mom called from Atlanta and asked me if wanted any Girl Scouts cookies since she has some extra boxes. I politely declined, though she did give me the inspiration for this week's column: COOKIES!

I love cookies, so this week I stopped by Milk & Cookies in Greenwich Village. The sweet smell of freshly baked cookies wafted over me as soon as I walked in the cute little bakery. I immediately ordered a trio of cookies which are three for $4.75. You can get a dozen for $18.

I got a snickerdoodle, a double chocolate and toffee and a chocolate mint cookie. All of the cookies were delicious. The snickerdoodle cookie is tasty with a extra kick of nutmeg. The double chocolate and toffee cookie is like a Anglophile's take on the classic chocolate chip cookie. Finally, the chocolate mint cookie is rich with a perfect mix of chocolate and mint. It was definite major upgrade on the"Thin Mint", but don't tell the Girl Scouts -- or my mom.
