Another NYC cop show, with history: 'New Amsterdam'
The cast of the new NY-based cop show "New Amsterdam" was at the Museum of the City of New York on Monday night for a preview of the pilot episode, which premieres tonight on FOX.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, (pictured, right) plays NYPD detective John Amsterdam, a one-time Dutch soldier in New Amsterdam who was made immortal by a Native American woman after he saved her life.
It's a bit like every other NYC cop show, with a little "Groundhog Day ("You sound just like my last 609 girlfriends,") and some NYC history thrown in for good measure -- including secret passageways in grand hotels, old speakeasies and elaborate murals hidden under history-may-care white paint.
The show also stars Zuleikha Robinson, Stephen Henderson and Alexie Gilmore.
