'NYC Waterfalls' cruises priced at $10 and $20

waterfallpier45.jpgNo precise dates have been revealed* for this summer's big public art event -- Olafur Eliasson's "New York City Waterfalls" -- but at least Circle Line has provided a bit more information on the cruises it will offer around the artworks

Eliasson's four man-made waterfalls will be positioned from Governors Island to Pier 35 (north of the Manhattan Bridge) on the East River from "mid-July to mid-October."
Circle Line downtown has the "official" cruise, making more than a dozen 30-minute ttrips every day from the South Stret Seaport.

They're priced at $10 each, and will be on their Zephyr and Patriot boats. They'll feature "an audio introduction by the internationally renown artist who created them, Olafur Eliasson."

The New York Water Taxi is also putting together a waterfalls tour. Its as-yet incomplete webpage (to quote a section: "’‚ÂÃâ,") says its hour-long boat tours, priced at $20, will pass all four waterfalls plus the Statue of Liberty. They're planning at least seven tours a day from each of two docks: at the South Street Seaport and Battery Park

For some earlier, indoor Eliasson, the Museum of Modern Art will showcase "Take your time: Olafur Eliasson" from April 20 through June 30.

*Update: Here are the first unofficial dates we've seen for NYC Waterfalls: July 15 to October 7. Those are apparently the dates for the boat tours, according to the Water Taxi Beach blog, run by Harry Hawk, who runs concessions at Water Taxi Beach every summer in Long Island City.
