NY (scowly faced) over 'Gucci (heart) NY' campaign
The tables have turned on Gucci, which opened a flagship store last week at 725 Fifth Ave., map.
While Gucci execs are oft concerned about the knockoffs bags on Canal Street, the comany has gone ahead and borrowed the New York State trademarked logo without permission, the Post repoorted this weekend.
And to be clear, that's the notoriously litigious NY state, when it comes to its logo. The original "I (heart) NY" logo was designed (for free) by Milton Glaser.
So while NY state has ILoveNy.com they'd prefer not to see GucciLovesNY.com, unless they get a piece of the action.
From the Post:
Warner Johnston, a spokesman for Empire State Development, said officials met Friday with Gucci President and CEO Mark Lee, and both sides will be working this week to hammer out a deal. Earlier: Shopping roundup: Gucci, Barneys Warehouse Sale
