Bloody 'Macbeth' hits Broadway March 29 to May 24
The powerful new staging of "Macbeth" starring Patrick Stewart will transfer to Broadway for an eight-week run starting March 29, according to Playbill.
"Macbeth," now playing a sold-out run at the Brooklyn Academy of Music through March 22, will play Broadway's Lyceum Theatre through May 24. It's squeezing in the opening left by "Is He Dead?" the "new" Mark Twain comedy, which is closing ahead of schedule.
Stewart has already won England's Evening Standard and Critics’ Circle Awards for his role in this verison of the Scottish Play, which originated at England's Chichester Festival. He's also been nominated for the prestigious Olivier Award, which will be presented March 9.
Broadway "Macbeth" ticket information has not yet been released.
(And NewYorkology's advice on this show has been to avoid reading the reviews because they all contain spoilers about the staging you may want to keep for a surprise.)
