Bay Ridge's Little Cupcake Bake Shop both green, good

Nichelle Stephens, a co-founder of the Cupcakes Take the Cake blog, is the desserts correspondent for NewYorkology. She hits up desserts sweet and savory in all the boroughs. By day, she does bookkeeping and Tuesday nights she can be found laughing with some of the best female comics she can find at Chicks and Giggles at Ochi's Lounge.
When I heard that there a "green" cupcake bakery in Brooklyn, I mistakenly thought that St. Patrick's Day must be celebrated there year-round especially since it is in Bay Ridge.
I soon found out that Little Cupcake Bake Shop is the city's only green cupcake bakery that is dedicated to minimize its carbon footprint. The store runs on wind power using ConEdison Solutions' Green Power. The staff is super friendly and you may catch the owner, Luigi Lobuglio on the weekends when business is brisk.
By the way, the cupcakes are fantastic! They have a great selection of flavors including Coconut Cloud, Cookie Dough, Devil's Food German Chocolate and Lemon and Southern Red Velvet. I especially like the German Chocolate cupcake, which had a delicious glob of coconut shavings and frosting on top.
Cupcakes are more reasonable in Brooklyn than most in Manhattan -- with a single cupcake here priced nicely at $1.75. To wash down a cupcake or two, Little Cupcake Bakeshop serves Illy coffee which is aromatic and strong. Sipping Italian coffee, eating a cupcake and watching people walk around neighborhood of Bay Ridge is a fun way to spend a lazy afternoon.
